If you have been in combat, during ANY war, was what you saw, had to do, experienced horror, the horror?

There is no simulator, training, or other life experience that will let you know precisely what you will do when your pink *** is on the line. You do what you have to to survive. Certainly your training in the use of your firearm comes into play, as it immediately becomes an extension of your body, but the decision when to fire, when to stop, all comes to a blur. Peripheral vision goes away, you don't really hear the gunfire, and when its over you may find you've been pulling the trigger on an empty gun. You have to ask your buddies to look at you to see if you've been hit, and once you find you've survived without a scratch, the adrenaline has to go someplace, so you puke your guts out. War's over and you go home, and then something 30 years later spooks you badly, and you sweat, breath heavily to the point of nearly ping out, collect yourself, and say "damn, I thought I put that $hit behind me"
