Is this sales job a scam?

While not technically a scam, it is a 100% commission job. As the recruiter mentioned, you will be cold calling people from the phone book to try to convince them to switch to dish network. If they do, then you receive a commission, if they don't, you don't receive any pay. Sometimes these types of companies will have a booth set up in Sam's Club or WalMart. Same idea, convince shoppers to sign up. You could be calling people or talking to shoppers all day and not make any money as you will not be paid a salary, only a commission for completed deals.
