Does it hurt to get your ears pierced?

im 13 and have a horrible fear of needles and people putting sharp objects in my body... haha sorry if that last part sounded weird, but anyways i want really want to get them done. but im afraid it will hurt.. so on a scale of 1-10 how bad does it hurt, 1 being no pain 10 being agonizing. and if i took ibreprophen before i got them done would it num out the pain a bit more?
