Do you ever wish that you and your parents were closer?

I mean... I feel that even though we'd take a bullet for one another; we wouldn't really know who we're taking the bullet for. Do we even really need to know?? I mean I can't talk to my mom about anything she doesn't want to know. I know we're Indian and by unwritten law; extremely conventional. . . but I don't think we actually connect on any level. There's just a profound amount of respect for one another (the amt varies).. and that's it. That's what disturbs me.
