Why does everyone say middle school is so dramatic?

I just had my first day and it seems fine to me. Everyone was nice except for some of the older kids who laugh whenever a 6th grader asks a question. Some of the older kids are nice! They helped me get to cl and called me smart (Not the gross abbreviation XD). I didn't have lunch because I was late but I had one person from elementary school at recess and we talked for a minute then I went of and listened to music. Also the teachers are great, some of them are kinda lame though. THEY LET US HAVE IPODS AND CELLPHONES DURING LUNCH AND BREAK! EEEEEEEEEEEEE! AND ON THE BUS! I'm not sure if I really made friends, but my friends and I did say hi to eachother in the halls, plus I talked to some new people. My enemy from last year waved at me, lol, that was weird but nice. So why does everyone say middle school is scary?
